Democratic Republic of the Congo stock market reform

Overview

The Democratic Republic of the Congo has enacted Law No. 26/034 to establish a legal framework for a national capital market. Promulgated by President Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, the reform seeks to modernize the nation’s financial architecture by providing medium- and long-term financing instruments to diversify economic funding and mobilize domestic savings.

Following this legislation, the government is working toward the operationalization of the Kinshasa Stock Exchange (KSE). Planned steps include activating a financial market regulatory authority, developing market infrastructure, and appointing a central securities depository. The first listings on the KSE are projected to occur between June and December 31, 2027.
