Serbia's average net salary hits 1,032 euros as Balkans report wage growth

In April 2026 Serbia's average net salary reached 1,032 euros (gross 1,423.7 euros), up 11.5 % nominal and 7.9 % real year‑on‑year. The median net wage was 801.6 euros, meaning half of workers earned less. The same month the average net salary in Serbia was reported as 121,805 dinars, with a median of 94,585 dinars.

Macedonia's statistics showed an average net monthly salary of 48,779 denars, prompting discussion of disparities between sectors and regions.

In the Republika Srpska entity of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the average net salary in May rose to 1,682 KM, an 8.6 % increase over the previous year, driven by collective bargaining agreements covering around 72,000 employees. The highest average wages were in scientific and technical fields (2,186 KM) and the lowest in hospitality (1,278 KM). The reported consumer basket indicated that the average net pay covers about 58 % of typical household expenses.

Serbian regional data highlighted stark wage gaps: Belgrade districts recorded averages above 190,000 dinars, while southern municipalities such as Preševo and Bojnic remained below 85,000 dinars. Overall, the Balkans are experiencing continued wage growth, though disparities persist across countries and within regions.
