Balkan police seize weapons, arrest fraud and skimming suspects

Police in Croatia and Bosnia carried out a series of investigations and raids. In Bjelovar, a 63‑year‑old man was charged with animal cruelty after a cat was injured with an air‑gun projectile and faces up to two years in prison. The Croatian Ministry of Defence dismissed a former procurement chief who was arrested on suspicion of tender fraud. In Dubrovnik, a 55‑year‑old Bulgarian national was arrested for installing skimming devices on several ATMs, with nine devices and related equipment seized. Bosnian border police detained four people suspected of smuggling migrants from Bangladesh, Pakistan and Turkey. A large joint operation dubbed “Black Peak” in Central Bosnia resulted in the arrest of multiple suspects and the seizure of a substantial cache of firearms, ammunition, cash and other equipment. Split police reported three foiled fraud attempts targeting senior citizens, recovering €38,500 in losses. These actions illustrate a coordinated crackdown on a range of criminal activities across the region.
