Rescue operations reported in France involving fishers and animals

Two recreational fishers, both aged 45, were rescued from a dangerous rocky area near the Pointe du But on Île d'Yeu, France, on Sunday, September 27, 2026. The men became trapped near the Chien Perrin rock massif after their boat encountered difficulties. Firefighters and sea rescuers evacuated the men to a local hospital for treatment of contusions and shock.

In a separate incident in Lucs-sur-Boulogne, Vendée, the association ‘Le Cœur sur la patte 85’ rescued approximately 70 dogs and 20 cats following the death of their owner. The animals were found living in unsanitary conditions within a hangar and a house filled with excrement. Many of the animals were malnourished, injured, or suffering from parasites. The SPA has taken charge of those requiring urgent medical care, while others are being transferred to various shelters across France.
