Rescue teams continue search for missing British‑New Zealand hiker; Slovenian hiker found dead in neighboring Dolomite‑s

In the Belluno province of Italy, search operations are underway for a 68‑year‑old hiker holding British and New Zealand citizenship who disappeared while walking from Stalle di Seren toward Valle di Schievenin. About fifty rescuers—including Alpine rescue units, the Guardia di Finanza, fire brigades, drones and canine teams—have scanned the area and reviewed surveillance footage, but no trace has been found so far. The base of operations is the Rasai sports facilities, and the search is planned to continue tomorrow.

Earlier this week, the body of a 54‑year‑old Slovenian woman who went missing in the nearby Val di Fanes was recovered. She was located beneath the Ponte Outo in the Dolomiti d'Ampezzo Natural Park after extensive aerial and ground searches involving Alpine rescue, carabinieri, the Guardia di Finanza, fire services, dogs and drones. Authorities have opened an investigation, considering the possibility of a voluntary act.
