Rescues on Italy’s Adriatic coast and Lake Garda save swimmers

A father and his ten‑year‑old son were rescued from rough seas near Silvi on the Adriatic coast after their boat was swept by the waves. An off‑duty Carabinieri marshal joined lifeguards, grabbed a life‑preserver and helped bring both men ashore. The child escaped unharmed, the father sustained only minor injuries, and the marshal suffered a slight foot wound.

On Lake Garda, two 19‑year‑old South African tourists were saved after a rented motorboat drifted during a sudden storm. The Salò Coast Guard, supported by a fire‑brigade unit, an ambulance helicopter, divers and other rescue assets, located the swimmers near Torri del Benaco and brought them aboard a patrol boat. Both received medical attention but suffered no serious injuries. Both incidents highlight rapid coordinated responses by Italian rescue services, preventing fatalities.
