Resende expands mobile CT scanner service to nearby municipalities

The municipal health department of Resende, Rio de Janeiro, has widened the operation of its mobile computed‑tomography (CT) unit to include residents of Itatiaia, Quatis and Porto Real. The mobile scanner will remain parked in Resende's Praça do Trenzinho until 18 July, operating from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and providing up to 100 free CT examinations per day without prior appointment.

The expansion is a joint effort by the municipal health secretariat and the state government aimed at reducing imaging‑test wait times across the Agulhas Negras region. Patients must present identification, a health card or SUS card, proof of residence and a medical request. "Resende tem buscado assumir um papel de protagonismo na construção de uma saúde pública cada vez mais forte e integrada," said Health Secretary Adriano Palma Veras.

The service covers a broad range of non‑contrast scans, from cranial and sinus images to chest, abdomen and musculoskeletal examinations, offering essential diagnostic support to the surrounding communities.
