Reserve officer threatens women with firearm in Porto Alegre

A reserve military officer allegedly threatened two women with a firearm in the Historic Center of Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, after removing a Workers' Party (PT) flag from their residential building. Witnesses and video footage indicate the man forcibly took the flag and, when confronted by the residents, drew and cocked a handgun, causing the women to flee for safety.

Although the Military Brigade was called to the scene, officers reportedly declined to take the suspect into custody, stating that no arrest could be made because they did not catch him in the act (flagrante). The suspect, identified in reports as a reserve officer, maintained that his weapon was legally registered and suggested the matter be handled by the judiciary.

The Civil Police of Rio Grande do Sul have confirmed that the incident is currently under investigation by the Porto Alegre Women's Police Station.
