Resident Evil film sets new franchise box office record
The Resident Evil film franchise has reached a new milestone, with Zach Cregger’s Resident Evil becoming the highest-grossing entry in the series. The film has earned $361.1 million worldwide, including a $148.4 million domestic total.
This performance surpasses the previous franchise records held by Resident Evil: Afterlife, which earned $60.1 million domestically, and Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, which reached $314.1 million globally. Despite this success, the film is not expected to match the 2026 box office totals of other horror hits such as Backrooms, which earned $400.6 million, or Obsession, which reached $522.8 million.
