Residential fires reported in Alghero and Montecchio

Two separate residential fires have been reported in Italy. In Alghero, firefighters responded to a blaze in a terrace of a home on Viale Europa around 4:30 AM. The rapid intervention prevented the fire from spreading to the entire apartment, though significant smoke was produced. Foreign nationals living in the residence were evacuated and treated by medical personnel.

In Montecchio, a fatal fire occurred on Via della Vite late Monday night. An 88-year-old woman and her dog died in the blaze, while another pet was rescued. Neighbors alerted emergency services shortly after 11:00 PM. Firefighters from Orvieto and Terni worked for several hours to secure the scene. The apartment has been seized by the Nucleo Investigativo Antincendio (NIA) to determine the cause of the fire, with investigators looking into whether smoke inhalation or carbon monoxide caused the fatality.
