Netherlands residents focus on home sustainability and energy management

Across various regions in the Netherlands, residents are increasingly focusing on home sustainability and managing energy costs. In Zwolle, experts advise prioritizing building insulation and sealing drafts before installing new energy systems, noting that the local electricity grid is under pressure with thousands of planned homes lacking transport capacity.

In Nederweert, energy coaches from Zuidenwind held information sessions to help citizens understand energy bills and the implications of the upcoming 2027 changes to the net metering scheme (salderingsregeling). Coaches also addressed concerns regarding commercial offers for home batteries.

Additionally, the energy cooperative Zon op De Ronde Venen is launching a campaign to involve more women in the energy transition. The initiative features local figures like Erica van Doorn from Abcoude, who transitioned from a commercial career to community-focused work to help residents gain more control over their local energy supply and reduce dependence on large energy companies.
