Police actions on motorbikes spark incidents across Thailand and Indonesia

Thai traffic police have been stopping motorcycles with Malaysian registration plates, issuing fines after a resident clarified the situation in Malay. The stops have drawn criticism on social media, with users claiming the police are specifically targeting Malaysian‑registered vehicles.

In Indonesia, several motorbike‑related crimes and police confrontations were reported. In Lembang, West Java, two suspects attempted to steal a parked motorcycle; one was nearly attacked by a crowd before police apprehended both near the scene. In Bogor, West Java, a police officer was brutally beaten by a mob while trying to detain a motorbike thief, sustaining serious injuries that required intensive care. Separately, in Sumenep, East Java, a man identified as MN alias Nong was arrested for stealing eleven motorcycle rims and a Honda Beat from a parts warehouse. Additionally, PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) Daop 7 in Madiun conducted safety education sessions at schools to warn students about the dangers of playing near railway tracks, emphasizing broader vehicle safety.

These incidents highlight increasing tensions between law‑enforcement agencies and the public over motorbike regulation and theft in the region.
