Restaurant named ‘Xi Jinping’ vandalized in South Korea
A restaurant in Seongnam, South Korea, named ‘Xi Jinping’ was targeted in a vandalism incident on September 24. Four masked men entered the establishment, spray-painted walls, and damaged property, causing estimated damages of approximately 15 million won.
South Korean police identified the four suspects as Chinese nationals, who reportedly left South Korea for China on the same day the incident occurred. The restaurant owner stated the name was chosen to make the establishment a prominent Chinese landmark rather than for political reasons. Following the attack, the restaurant temporarily closed and has since changed its signage to a more neutral name to prevent further incidents.
