Restoration projects underway for historic churches in Argentina

Restoration efforts are progressing at two historic religious sites in Argentina. In Formosa, the Nuestra Señora del Carmen Cathedral has begun priority repairs to address severe humidity and water infiltration issues. The project, funded through community donations, involves installing galvanized steel roofing over lateral slabs, repairing plaster, and restoring damaged ceilings and painting in areas such as the altar and the Virgin's shrine access.

In Tucumán, the Ministry of Public Works, Infrastructure, and Transport is executing a restoration plan for the Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria Chapel in Villa Chicligasta. The technical intervention aims to preserve the building's architectural heritage by renewing the main nave's flooring while preserving 1797 ceramic brick elements. Other works include protecting historical wooden columns from humidity, repairing beams and carpentry, and restoring the main tile roof using original materials where possible.
