Restoration works progress at Cantiano Regional Fish Center

Restoration efforts are underway at the Regional Fish Center in Cantiano, which is now owned by the Marche Region. The project, expected to be completed by the end of the year, aims to repair flood damage and upgrade the facility into an advanced center for aquatic biodiversity protection.

Key improvements include the reconstruction of perimeter walls and damaged tanks, as well as the installation of modern water movement and oxygenation systems. The facility will also feature a new wastewater treatment circuit to comply with current aquaculture regulations.

Starting next year, operational management will be entrusted to Fipsas, working in synergy with the Regional Fish Plant in Esanatoglia. The center will focus on the production and protection of the Mediterranean trout, an indigenous species vital to local ecosystems, with potential future expansions to other freshwater species.
