Øresund Bridge to undergo maintenance and traffic changes

The Øresund Bridge will undergo significant maintenance work starting August 31, lasting until the end of October. The project involves the simultaneous replacement of two of the bridge's largest expansion joints, a strategy intended to reduce the total project duration by one year.

During this period, traffic will be restricted over a 1.5-kilometer stretch, with only one lane open in each direction. Speed limits will be reduced within the work zone. Additionally, vehicles exceeding 3.75 meters in length or weighing more than 100 tons will be prohibited from using the connection while the work is underway.

The expansion joints, each nearly 25 meters long and weighing approximately 32 tons, are critical for allowing the bridge to move safely during temperature changes and under heavy loads. The work will be conducted in two phases to ensure the bridge remains open to traffic throughout the maintenance period.
