Øresund Bridge traffic and maintenance

Overview

In late July 2026, the Øresund Bridge recorded unprecedented traffic levels. During week 30, the bridge set new daily, weekend, and weekly vehicle records, with a daily high of 37,669 vehicles on 25 July. Bridge director Linus Eriksson stated that the performance exceeded expectations, noting the records as proof of the bridge’s capacity.

Following these record levels, the bridge is scheduled to undergo significant maintenance starting 31 August and lasting until the end of October. The project involves replacing two large expansion joints to reduce the total project duration by one year. During this period, traffic will be restricted to one lane in each direction over a 1.5-kilometer stretch, and speed limits will be reduced. Additionally, vehicles exceeding 3.75 meters in length or 100 tons in weight will be prohibited from using the connection.
