Pokémon celebrates 30th anniversary with global events and merchandise
The Pokémon franchise is celebrating its 30th anniversary with a global series of events, merchandise releases, and gaming promotions.
In Italy, The Pokémon Company International, Nintendo, and Gamevision are hosting the ‘Pokémon Gioca e Scambia’ tour from October 2 to December 6, 2026. The tour will visit shopping centers in Arese, Campi Bisenzio, Rome, and Triggiano, offering fans opportunities to trade cards, participate in scavenger hunts, and test new titles like Pokémon Pokopia and Pokémon Legends: Z-A on the Nintendo Switch 2.
In the United States, Pokémon GO is holding special events at retailers such as Target, GameStop, and Best Buy. These include Mega Raids featuring Mega Gengar and themed Timed Research. Additionally, players who redeem gift cards at participating retailers can receive a Gengar Knit Cap avatar item.
In Japan, new anniversary-themed merchandise is being released through the Pokémon Center, including the ‘Pokémon Timeless Adventure’ collection and special Galar region gym badge sets. The franchise's 30-year milestone has also highlighted the high economic value of the Trading Card Game, where card condition significantly impacts market prices.
