Rethymno motorcycle accident claims life of 21-year-old traditional dancer

A funeral was held in Pallini, Attica, for 21-year-old Angelos Peristeris, who died following a motorcycle collision with a taxi in the Adelian Kampo area of Rethymno. Peristeris, a prominent dancer and instructor for the ‘Chorokrites’ Folk Association, was killed on Wednesday night while returning from work. Despite wearing a protective helmet, the severity of the impact proved fatal.

During the service at the Holy Church of Agios Tryfonas, members of the Chorokrites association honored him with traditional Cretan dances and the song ‘Ston ourano chorevoun’.

A 61-year-old taxi driver involved in the accident has been placed in provisional detention following an investigation by the Rethymno Traffic Police and a hearing before an investigating magistrate.
