Rethymno Municipality launches school supply drive for vulnerable families

The Rethymno Municipality Social Services Directorate, led by Deputy Mayor Dr. Anna Eleftheriadou-Gika, is organizing a collection drive for school supplies to support economically disadvantaged families. The initiative, managed by the Community Center, aims to ensure that children in need have the necessary materials for the upcoming school year.

Starting September 1, 2025, citizens can donate new or high-quality school items, including bags, notebooks, stationery, art supplies, and water bottles. Donations can be dropped off at designated ‘Solidarity Baskets’ located at the Community Center and several local bookstores, including Klapsinakis, Entypo, and Chartinos Kosmos.

Collected items will be distributed to eligible families through the municipality’s social service programs.
