Retired DSS Officer Nwaogu Ezeakolam Remanded in Kuje Prison on IPOB Terrorism Charges

Nwaogu Ihechimere Ezeakolam Department of State Services Indigenous People of Biafra Kuje Correctional Centre Terrorism Act

The Federal High Court in Abuja, presided over by Justice Muhammed Umar, ordered that retired Department of State Services officer Nwaogu Ihechimere Ezeakolam be remanded at the Kuje Correctional Centre. He was arraigned on four counts under the Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022 – sections 13, 25 and 26 – for allegedly joining the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), providing moral and material support, and using social media to promote the group and induce public support. Ezeakolam pleaded not guilty to all charges. The court adjourned the matter to 29 October 2026 for the commencement of trial and ordered his continued detention pending the trial and any bail application. IPOB has been designated a terrorist organization by the Nigerian government.
