Retired police officer killed in Kota Marudu car accident

A 63-year-old retired police officer, Khir Ahmad, died following a two-vehicle collision in Kampung Tandek, Kota Marudu, on Monday. The accident occurred around 1:07 PM when a Proton Wira, driven by the deceased, collided with the front of a four-wheel-drive vehicle while attempting to make a right turn.

Authorities noted that the road was slippery and visibility was poor at the time of the incident. While the driver of the four-wheel-drive vehicle escaped without injury, five passengers in that vehicle sustained minor injuries. The deceased was pronounced dead at the scene, and his body has been sent to the Kota Marudu Hospital mortuary. Police are investigating the matter under the Road Transport Act 1987.
