Rewe replaces Payback with in-house loyalty program
Rewe and nahkauf have transitioned from the Payback loyalty system to a proprietary program called Rewe Bonus. The change took effect on December 29, 2024, following the final Payback day on December 28.
Unlike the previous system, which allowed points to be accumulated across various retailers, Rewe Bonus is restricted to Rewe, nahkauf, and Rewe's delivery and collection services. The new program provides Euro credit rather than points. Credit is earned through weekly bonus promotions, app-activated coupons, and a monthly turnover reward known as the Bonus-Booster.
Existing Payback points remain valid for other Payback partners but cannot be transferred to the Rewe Bonus program. Conversely, Rewe Bonus credit cannot be used with other Payback merchants. The transition is reportedly aimed at increasing brand loyalty and gaining more control over customer data.
