REX Theatre to host ‘Robben, the Heart of the Forest’

The National Theatre of Greece is presenting ‘Robben, the Heart of the Forest’ at the REX Theatre – Eleni Papadaki Stage, starting October 30. Written and directed by Dimitris Kouroumbalis alongside Frosyni Korrou, the production is described as a narrative of deep ecological sensitivity and solidarity.

The play follows Robin, a forest ranger whose love for the woods leads him into conflict with a Commissioner who prioritizes profit and modernization over environmental preservation. The plot explores themes of forest protection against industrialization, including the construction of roads, factories, and mines. Through music and cinematic-style stage battles, the performance aims to reconnect audiences, particularly children, with the importance of forest ecosystems.
