Greek theatre production of Robben, Heart of the Forest

Overview

The National Theatre of Greece and Mikro Ethniko are preparing to present the theatrical production ‘Robben, the Heart of the Forest’ at the REX Theatre – Eleni Papadaki Stage, beginning October 30.

Written and directed by Dimitris Kouroumbalis and Frosyni Korrou, the play focuses on themes of ecological sensitivity and solidarity. The story follows a forest ranger named Robin who enters a conflict with a Commissioner favoring industrial modernization, such as the construction of mines, factories, and roads. After being declared an outlaw, the protagonist joins a community and becomes known as ‘Robben’. The production utilizes music and cinematic-style stage battles to engage audiences, specifically children, regarding the importance of forest ecosystems.
