Régis Pitbull, former Brazilian footballer, living on streets of São Paulo

Régis Fernandes da Silva, known as Régis Pitbull, a former professional footballer who played for clubs including Corinthians, Vasco da Gama, Ponte Preta, and Bahia, is currently living on the streets of the Pirituba district in São Paulo.

Approaching his 50th birthday, the former striker is struggling with severe crack cocaine addiction. He has been living in an improvised shelter made of tarps and cardboard for approximately two months after losing his housing. His situation was exacerbated by legal issues; he was arrested in 2025 following an altercation with his building's manager, and he currently faces a judicial action to lose his apartment due to unpaid property taxes and condominium fees.

Despite his past success, which included playing in Japan, Turkey, South Korea, and Portugal, Régis has reportedly refused multiple offers of rehabilitation and assistance from family, friends, and supporters. He has expressed a desire for employment rather than pity, stating, “I don't want anyone to know that I exist. It is better if they think I am dead.”
