Homelessness of former footballer Régis Pitbull

Régis Fernandes da Silva, a former professional footballer known as Régis Pitbull, is living as a homeless person in the Pirituba district of São Paulo. Having played for various Brazilian clubs such as Corinthians and Vasco da Gama, as well as international teams in Japan, Turkey, South Korea, Portugal, and the United Arab Emirates, the 49-year-old is currently struggling with a severe crack cocaine addiction.

His current situation follows a period of legal and financial instability. He reportedly lost his housing due to unpaid property taxes and condominium fees, and he faces ongoing judicial actions regarding his property. While he still owns one piece of real estate, he is currently unable to access it due to these ongoing legal proceedings regarding his debts. His decline has been marked by previous career suspensions for substance abuse and a 2025 arrest following an altercation with a building manager.

Despite reaching out from fans and former supporters, Pitbull has expressed a strong desire for anonymity, stating, “It is better if they think I am dead. I do not want anyone to know that I exist.” He has noted that while some fans and former teammates occasionally offer meals or assistance, he remains largely withdrawn.
