RHDP submits electoral reform proposals in Côte d’Ivoire

The ruling Rassemblement des Houphouëtistes pour la Démocratie et la Paix (RHDP) has submitted its formal proposals for a new electoral body to the Ivorian Ministry of the Interior and Security. The delegation, led by Executive Secretary Ibrahima Cissé Bacongo, delivered the contribution to Minister Vagondo Diomandé on October 15, 2026.

This move follows the dissolution of the Independent Electoral Commission and is part of ongoing consultations to establish a new framework for electoral governance. The proposed reforms aim to modernize election administration through several key pillars: the professionalization of electoral agents, the introduction of innovative technologies to prevent fraud, increased representation for political parties and civil society, and a clearer legal framework for handling electoral disputes.

While the specific details of the RHDP document have not been fully released to the public, the submission marks a significant step in the national effort to enhance the transparency and credibility of future voting processes in Côte d’Ivoire.
