Rheden hosts events exploring local history and architectural changes

Various local events in Rheden are focusing on the historical evolution and architectural changes of the village.

Rheejes Proate will host a presentation titled ‘Toen… en nu’ (Then… and now) on September 17, 2026, at Dorpshuis Willem de Zwijger. Gerrit Oosterink will present a comparison between former buildings and their modern replacements, including the former Rheden town hall, De Posbank pavilion, and the De Hangmat sports hall.

Additionally, the Oudheidkundige Kring Rheden-Rozendaal is organizing an annual village walk on September 6 titled ‘Een Rhedens verleden in steen’ (A Rheden's past in stone). Led by guides Hermien Rijnbende and Marnix Nijenhof, the walk will explore the area's history of stone production along the IJssel river and discuss how the landscape and local industry have transformed over time.
