Rheinmetall to acquire Mangalia shipyard in Romania for €138 million
Rheinmetall, in partnership with MSC, has been awarded the Mangalia shipyard in Romania for €138 million. The acquisition, expected to close within weeks, aims to establish the site as a dual-use facility for both civilian and military shipbuilding projects.
This expansion follows other recent industrial developments for the company. In Albacete, Spain, Rheinmetall recently commissioned a new medium-caliber ammunition production facility with an annual capacity of approximately three million components, representing a €20 million investment. Additionally, the company is expanding large-caliber production in Telford.
Despite these operational expansions and a reported 39 percent increase in revenue during the first half of 2026, Rheinmetall's stock saw a decline of 1.49 percent following the announcement. Investors remain focused on how these capacity increases will translate into actual delivery capabilities and liquidity.
