Rhineland Cabaret Icon Konrad Beikircher Dies at 80

Konrad Beikircher, a celebrated cabaret performer who gave the Rhineland dialect a national stage, died at the age of 80 in Bonn. His death was announced by his wife, Anne Beikircher.

Born in South Tyrol, Beikircher studied musicology in Vienna and psychology, later working as a prison psychologist in Siegburg. He switched to cabaret at 39 and became known for his sharp observations of everyday life in the Rhineland, earning him the reputation of a cultural ambassador for the region.
