Rhineland-Palatinate firewood prices remain stable for heating season

As the heating season begins in Rhineland-Palatinate, firewood prices in certain municipalities such as Ingelheim and Morbach have remained stable. The region possesses a high proportion of communal forests, with cities and municipalities owning approximately 46 percent of the forest area, ranging from the Palatinate Forest to the Westerwald.

In Morbach, which manages 3,000 hectares of forest, beech and oak wood currently costs at least 45 euros per stere (stacked cubic meter). Other hardwoods, such as birch and maple, are priced at a minimum of 33 euros per stere. Consumers purchasing wood from communal areas often pay prices set by local municipal councils, and availability for residents is frequently limited.
