Wood fuel price trends in Germany

Overview

As the heating season begins, wood fuel prices in Germany have shown signs of stabilization. In the Rhineland-Palatinate region, firewood prices in municipalities such as Ingelheim and Morbach have remained stable. In Morbach, beech and oak wood costs at least 45 euros per stere, while other hardwoods like birch and maple are priced at a minimum of 33 euros per stere.

Nationally, wood pellet prices have reached a plateau following significant increases driven by geopolitical factors. As of late October, the price for loose pellets is approximately 438.65 euros per tonne, with minimal fluctuations reported. While the trend of sharp price increases has weakened, there are currently no indications of significant price decreases.
