Rhône left-wing groups contest Hélène Geoffroy's senatorial list placement

Three left-wing organizations in the Rhône department—L’Après 69, Générations 69, and Debout ! Rhône—have issued an open letter contesting the placement of Hélène Geoffroy on the joint candidate list for the upcoming senatorial elections.

Geoffroy, a metropolitan councilor and former mayor of Vaulx-en-Velin, is currently positioned in second place on the list led by Green senator Thomas Dossus. The signatory groups argue that her inclusion undermines the goal of left-wing unity. They specifically criticize her past refusal to form alliances with La France Insoumise (LFI), which they claim contributed to left-wing defeats in recent metropolitan elections.

The groups have addressed their concerns to the national secretariat of the Socialist Party (PS) and local militants, stating that their full support for the list depends on how these issues are addressed. They emphasize the need for a unified front to counter the rise of reactionary political forces.
