Rhodes facing surge in gastroenteritis cases
Health authorities in Rhodes are on alert following a significant surge in gastroenteritis cases on the island. Medical professionals report that between 40 and 50 patients are presenting at the Emergency Department daily with symptoms.
The impact is also being felt in the private sector, where gastroenteritis cases account for approximately 40% to 60% of all medical visits. While such outbreaks are common during the summer months in Rhodes, doctors note that the current increase is notably higher than in previous years.
As of now, no hospitalizations have been required to treat the cases. Medical staff are urging the public to strictly adhere to personal hygiene rules, specifically emphasizing thorough handwashing, to mitigate the risk of transmission.
