Rhodes hosts TAFI 2026 to expand South Aegean tourism in India
The South Aegean Region is positioning itself to capitalize on the Indian tourism market through the TAFI Convention 2026 hosted in Rhodes. More than 400 tourism professionals and travel agents from India are participating in the Travel Agents Federation of India (TAFI) conference to explore the destination's potential.
Regional Governor George Chatzimarkos stated that the event offers a significant opportunity to build long-term relationships between the two markets. The strategy involves using Rhodes, Santorini, and Mykonos as hubs for 'island hopping' to encourage visitors to explore the smaller islands of the Cyclades and Dodecanese.
While initial interest in the convention exceeded 600 participants, airline connectivity limitations prevented some from attending. Discussions regarding improved Greece-India aviation links highlighted direct flights by IndiGo and cooperation with Aegean Airlines to facilitate travel.
