Rhodes: Two arrested for fraud and illegal weapons possession
Police in Rhodes have arrested two men, aged 18 and 21, following a fraud scheme targeting a 47-year-old woman. The suspects are facing charges of conspiracy to commit fraud and illegal possession of weapons.
The incident began on August 10, 2026, when an individual called the victim while impersonating an employee of an electric utility company. Under the pretext of taking security measures, the perpetrator convinced the woman to place her valuables in an outdoor area of her residence. Shortly after, the suspects arrived in a vehicle and the 18-year-old male retrieved the items.
Following a report, the Rhodes Sub-directorate of Crime Investigation and Prosecution identified and apprehended the suspects on the morning of August 11. During the search, authorities seized a large quantity of valuables, 20,970 euros in cash, 70 cartridges, and the vehicle used in the crime. Some of the stolen items were identified by the victim and returned to her. The suspects have been taken to the Rhodes Court of First Instance.
