Riau government pledges aid for NTT earthquake victims

The Riau Provincial Government has pledged Rp1 billion in humanitarian aid to assist victims of the earthquake in Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT). Acting Governor SF Hariyanto stated the aid is a form of solidarity to help meet the needs of residents and support post-disaster recovery.

In related environmental developments, the Deputy Minister of Human Rights, Mugiyanto, emphasized the need to protect environmental defenders from criminalization and intimidation. Speaking at an event organized by WALHI Riau, he noted that environmental issues are inseparable from human rights and must be central to development policies.

Additionally, the Kampar Regency government submitted an environmental management proposal to the Minister of Environment to seek central government support. Meanwhile, Universitas Riau and WALHI have strengthened their collaboration to promote a just energy transition that protects essential ecosystems through academic research and community dialogue.
