Ricardo Espinoza Cuestas named new head of Peru's Dirincri

General Ricardo Espinoza Cuestas has been appointed as the new head of the Criminal Investigation Directorate (Dirincri) of the Peruvian National Police (PNP). This appointment, made via Supreme Resolution N.° 234-2026-IN, is part of a broader reorganization involving 23 general officers cited under the cause of “service necessity.”

Espinoza Cuestas previously served as the head of the La Libertad Police Region, where he managed operations in an area facing high rates of extortion, kidnapping, and organized crime. He succeeds Víctor Revoredo Farfán, who has been reassigned to the PNP's Directorate of International Affairs (Dirasint). Revoredo, who had led Dirincri since January 2026, will now focus on international police cooperation and coordination with foreign authorities.
