Brazil electoral courts issue sanctions against multiple candidates

Brazilian electoral courts have issued several rulings against political candidates regarding campaign conduct and eligibility.

In Rio de Janeiro, the TRE-RJ prohibited Anthony Garotinho from participating in debates, accessing free electoral advertising time, or using public campaign funds. The decision follows his suspension of political rights due to an administrative improbity conviction involving the alleged diversion of R$ 234.4 million from the State Health Secretariat.

In São Paulo, the TRE-SP fined federal deputy Guilherme Derrite R$ 5,000 and his party for using paid boosting to amplify negative content against Fernando Haddad. Similarly, candidate Luiz Camargo was fined R$ 7,500 for boosting a video comparing the Lula administration to the Venezuelan government.

Other regional actions include the TRE-MA suspending the publication of an INOP election poll due to registration inconsistencies, and the TRE-RR ordering candidate Soldado Sampaio to remove campaign materials produced within state government facilities. In Rio Grande do Norte, Álvaro Dias faced fines totaling R$ 175,000 for early campaign advertising via radio programs.
