Ricardo Orrego faces charges for alleged sexual harassment in Colombia

The Colombian Fiscalía General de la Nación has requested a formal hearing to charge sports journalist Ricardo Orrego Arboleda with sexual harassment and violent sexual acts. The request was filed by a Special Task Force dedicated to investigating gender-based violence within the media industry.

Preliminary evidence suggests the investigation involves five alleged victims, with incidents reported to have occurred between 2012 and 2024 within professional environments. The case gained public attention following reports from the ‘Yo te creo, colega’ movement, which documented numerous testimonies of workplace abuse in Colombian newsrooms.

Orrego, who previously worked for Caracol Televisión and Blu Radio, saw his professional ties with those organizations terminated in March 2026. His legal defense has stated that Orrego intends to appear before the authorities to exercise his right to a defense, emphasizing the need to respect the presumption of innocence and due process throughout the proceedings.
