Investigation of Ricardo Orrego for sexual harassment

Overview

The Colombian Fiscalía General de la Nación has requested a formal hearing to charge sports journalist Ricardo Orrego Arboleda with sexual harassment and violent sexual acts. A special task force investigating gender-based violence in the media industry filed the request following preliminary evidence involving five alleged victims.

The reported incidents occurred within professional environments between 2012 and 2024. The case drew public attention through the ‘Yo te creo, colega’ movement, which has documented testimonies of workplace abuse in Colombian newsrooms. Orrego, formerly associated with Caracol Televisión and Blu Radio, had his professional ties with those organizations terminated in March 2026. His legal defense has stated he intends to appear before authorities to exercise his right to a defense and emphasized the importance of the presumption of innocence.
