Ricardo Sandoval to defend flyweight titles against Sergio Mendoza

Ricardo Sandoval is set to defend his unified WBA and WBC flyweight titles against Sergio Mendoza on October 10 at the Wintrust Arena in Chicago. The matchup follows the withdrawal of the original opponent, Oscar Collazo, who was forced out of the bout due to a rib injury.

Sandoval, who holds a record of 27-2 with 18 knockouts, must now adjust his preparation for Mendoza. While Sandoval was originally training for the shorter Collazo, Mendoza stands at approximately 5’8”, presenting a different physical challenge in terms of distance and timing. Mendoza enters the fight with a record of 27-1 and 23 knockouts, seeking his second opportunity at a world title.

The flyweight championship bout will serve as the co-feature to the Floyd Schofield III vs. Lucas Bahdi fight for the WBA lightweight title and will be broadcast on DAZN.
