Riga faces 1.3 million euro in storm damage
Storm Priska has caused approximately 1.3 million euros in damages to municipal properties and infrastructure in Riga, according to the Riga City Council. This figure is expected to rise as assessment and cleanup efforts continue across various municipal structures.
Authorities have identified 1,624 addresses involving fallen or damaged trees and branches, with roughly one-third of these incidents already resolved. Additionally, emergency services have received over 890 requests for assistance regarding storm damage on municipal property, primarily involving trees falling on roads, buildings, vehicles, and city infrastructure.
Significant costs are attributed to repairing municipal buildings, educational institutions, and restoring heating, public transport, lighting, and communication networks. Damage was reported at 124 municipal educational institutions, requiring approximately 160 different types of repairs with provisional costs exceeding 412,000 euros. Most issues in these facilities include damage to roofs, fences, electrical installations, lighting, and facades.
