Rigathi Gachagua unveils 2027 political strategy after consultations
Rigathi Gachagua, leader of the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP), has concluded a 55-day series of political consultations at his Wamunyoro residence in Nyeri County. On August 24, Gachagua announced his intention to present a political direction for the 2027 General Election based on feedback from grassroots leaders, professionals, and youth.
Gachagua stated he is prepared to support an alternative opposition candidate if the movement settles on someone other than himself, emphasizing that personal interests must not prevent the defeat of President William Ruto. He also announced plans to expand his reach beyond the Mount Kenya region, including a planned tour of the Luo Nyanza region—covering Siaya, Migori, Homa Bay, and Kisumu—following a trip to the United States.
Additionally, Gachagua raised allegations regarding the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), claiming that a contract for a results transmission system was tailor-made for a South Korean firm. He indicated he is gathering further information to disclose regarding these procurement concerns.
