Rigathi Gachagua Linked to Murder Suspects and Accused Police Plot in Kenya

Kenya's Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) announced that former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua communicated with two individuals implicated in the murder of mental‑health doctor Victoria Mutiso, including a key suspect and the motorcycle rider who ferried the gunmen. DCI Director Mohamed Amin said investigators have identified the alleged organiser of the plot, the rider, and several rogue police officers who allegedly helped coordinate the attack and supplied the firearm.

Gachagua has counter‑accused, claiming two police officers from Kikuyu Police Station were paid to assassinate him, Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka and former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i during a rally. He also alleged that DCI Director Amin is shielding the officers and that the police service is ethnically biased in favour of President William Ruto’s tribe, citing the officers’ involvement in other high‑profile killings, including that of Dr. Mutiso.
