Rijeka Gateway marks first year with 100 vessel calls

The Rijeka Gateway container terminal has reached a milestone of 100 vessel calls ahead of its first anniversary of commercial operations. During a recent docking of the vessels ‘Moraga’ and ‘Conship Luv’, the terminal successfully demonstrated parallel ship operations, a model designed to increase efficiency and reduce waiting times.

In its first year, the terminal has handled 370,000 TEU. The vessel count includes 47 large intercontinental mother ships operating on Asia-Europe routes and 53 feeder ships connecting Rijeka to regional Adriatic ports, particularly in Italy.

CEO Peter Corfitsen highlighted the establishment of new logistics corridors and the development of a highly qualified team as key achievements. The terminal, a joint venture between APM Terminals and the Croatian Enna Group, has strengthened partnerships with global shipping companies such as Maersk and Hapag-Lloyd, positioning itself as a regional transshipment hub within the Gemini network.
