Rijeka Gateway terminal operational milestones

Overview

The Rijeka Gateway container terminal, a joint venture between APM Terminals and the Croatian Enna Group, has completed its first year of commercial operations. During this period, the terminal reached a milestone of 100 vessel calls, including the simultaneous arrival of the vessels ‘Moraga’ and ‘Conship Luv’.

Of the 100 vessels handled, 47 were large intercontinental mother ships on Asia-Europe routes and 53 were feeder ships. The terminal has processed 370,000 TEU and serves as a regional transshipment hub within the Gemini network, an operational collaboration between Maersk and Hapag-Lloyd.

Through its role on the AE12/SE1 line, the terminal connects major Asian ports with Mediterranean and Adriatic ports, including Italian locations such as Trieste, Venice, Ravenna, and Ancona. CEO Peter Corfitsen noted that the terminal's first year was characterized by the establishment of new logistics corridors and the development of a highly qualified team.
