Rijeka introduces 300 new electric scooters via Hoppy Mobility

The city of Rijeka is reintroducing electric scooter services following the departure of the previous operator, Bolt. The Belgian company Hoppy Mobility will deploy a fleet of 300 scooters across 32 designated locations throughout the city.

To address previous issues regarding urban clutter and safety, the new system introduces several technological and administrative restrictions. Scooters will be subject to automatic speed limits in specific zones, and riding or parking will be strictly prohibited in certain areas, such as Korza. To prevent scooters from being left on sidewalks, users must utilize the 32 predefined parking locations; otherwise, service teams will relocate them.

The pricing model includes a one-euro unlock fee followed by 0.25 euros per minute of use. For the first week of operation, a 50 percent discount will be available to new users. While the maximum factory speed is set at 25 km/h, users are permitted to ride on sidewalks only at walking speed. Although helmets are legally required, they will not be provided with the vehicles.
