Rijeka to host record European Researchers' Night

The upcoming European Researchers' Night in Rijeka, Croatia, will feature a record-breaking program involving more than 250 scientists and over 40 interactive activities. Held at Exportdrvo on September 25, the event is part of the Blue-connect 3.0 European project and aims to make science accessible to all generations through experiments, games, and puzzles rather than traditional lectures.

Activities are designed for a wide range of participants, including a morning session specifically for students. For children and youth, the program includes robotics challenges such as BattleBot competitions, flight simulators, and space observation through telescopes. Other scientific demonstrations include volcano eruptions, DNA extraction from bananas, and microscopic observations. The event also incorporates non-laboratory elements like firefighting equipment demonstrations, police forensics, and speleology.

The City of Rijeka has allocated 100,000 euros to fund transportation for local primary school students to ensure they can participate in this out-of-classroom learning experience. The program is free to the public and will also feature various cultural and musical performances.
